Wild kangaroos allegedly killed a 77-year-old man who defended him as a pet, said Australian police said Tuesday-reportedly the first fatal kangaroo attack in 86 years. The man, who has not been identified, was discovered by a relative on Sunday afternoon with “serious injuries” in a property in the southern city of Redmond in Western Australia, police said.
It is believed that the man had been attacked by kangaroos on that day, “said a state police spokesman.An ambulance crew ran to the scene, but the man died there.In the property, there are kangaroos who prevent the ambulance crew from accessed the injured man,” said the police spokesman.
The police said they had to shoot and kill the animal, because “is a continuous threat to emergency respondents”. The kangaroo is believed to be a wild animal stored by the man as a pet, said the police.
Although the kangaroo species are not identified, the large southern region of Western Australia is home to western gray.

In the incident, Sydney Morning Herald reported that a 38 -year -old man, William Cruickshank, had died in a hospital in New South Wales, a few months after being attacked when he tried to save two dogs from big kangaroos.
