Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin faced criticism after a video of a 36-year-old leader who was partying with her friends leaked on social media. Marin, one of the youngest prime ministers in the world, since then received criticism from members of the community and from the opposition parties, with several leaders demanded that he did a drug test.
However, this is not the first time Marin has been criticized because of partying. Last year the public was angry after he went to the nightclub despite dealing with the country’s foreign minister, Pekka Haavisto, who had contracted Covid-19.
Sanna Marin, who was previously the Minister of Transportation of the State, was appointed as PM in 2019. At that time, he became the youngest PM in the world by defeating the record set by the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
Marin’s life in politics began when he was only 20 years old. Two years later, he ran for a council seat in Tampere, a city located north of Helsinki. In 2015, he became a member of parliament.
Over the past four years, Marin received criticism of various problems – partying, the clothes he was wearing, and the company he maintained. In December, he made a public apology after going to clubbing until 4 am without a telephone, so failed to be told that he had made a close contact with a positive Covid-19 person. He was not tested positively.

A video posted on social media shows six people dancing and imitating songs in front of the camera, including PM Marin.
Then in the video, Marin, 36, knelt on what seems to be the dance floor with hands behind his head dancing while imitating a song.

As soon as the video leaked, there were accusations of PM Marin using drugs while partying. He, however, denied using drugs.
“I myself do not use drugs, or anything other than alcohol. I have danced, sung and partying and doing very legal things. I am also not in a situation where I will know that other people do it that way, said Marin, according to the newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet.
It is unclear when the party, which was reportedly attended by Ilmari Nurminen, member of Eduskunta, or Parliament, for the Marin Democratic Social Party, and Finnish singer Alma, was held.
Marin, who in December 2019 became the youngest Prime Minister of Finland who once said he spent his free time with friends like others and that he intended to continue to be the same person as before.
“I hope that is accepted. We live in democracy and in general elections everyone can decide on this problem,” he said, according to Yle.
